Musa acuminata ‘Papua’ is a yellow variegated banana that is native to Papua New Guinea. It’s also known as the Cavendish banana. 

Here are some characteristics of Musa acuminata ‘Papua’: 

  • It’s an evergreen, perennial, herbaceous plant.
  • It has a pseudostem made of tightly packed layers of leaf sheaths.
  • It grows to 12-20′ tall in the tropics.
  • It’s fast-growing and suckering.
  • It has slender pseudostems that can grow up to 2.5 m tall.
  • It has highly ornamental leaves that can reach up to 3.5 m long and are covered with wine red blotches.
  • It originated in southeastern Asia, probably extending from parts of tropical India to Malaysia, Indonesia, and even to northern Australia.

How to Care :

  • Make sure your plants are getting enough water and sunlight.
  • Recommended Soil Media: 40% Garden Soil 25% cocopeat 25% Organic manure/Vermicompost 5% charcoal chips 5% perlite.
  • Fertilize your plants once a month.
  • Avoid over-watering your plants.
  • Cut off any dead or diseased Leaves.
  • Make Sure Pots Have Drainage Holes.
  • Don’t Repot Immediately after received wait for at least 2-3 Days.
