Colocasia esculenta ‘Queen of Phoenix’ is a plant with large, attractive leaves that have a yellow area in the middle and red veins. The colored areas get bigger as the plant matures.Â
The leaves are heart-shaped to arrow-shaped, and droop downwards. The thick fleshy petiole is green, sometimes purple, and is attached near the center of the leaf.Â
Colocasia esculenta is a large evergreen herb that grows up to 1 – 2 m tall. It is native to eastern Asia and favors grasslands, wetlands, and bog and marsh habitat. It spreads via seeds and vegetative corms and is sometimes cultivated as a crop.Â
Colocasia esculenta is also known as the elephant’s-ear plant because its leaves are shaped like a large ear or shield. It is primarily grown as a foliage plant.Â
