This is one of the most attractive and easiest to grow species of Alocasia. Green Shield even ships well with little to no transit shock. Introduced from the Philippines leaves are oval thick and unusually leather like. Upper leaf surface is bright lime-green with dramatically contrasting black zones around the primary veins. The lower leaf surface is paler green. Leaves reach 8-10 in. and have a light soft texture balanced by a surprisingly narrow stem.

Care

LIGHT
Prefers filtered light to bright indirect light. Requires high humidity to be happy and are extremely sensitive to the cold.

WATER
Keep moist over the warmer months, on the dryer side but not soggy or waterlogged. Reduce watering in the cooler months and check on soil frequently.

Nutrients
Feed with slow-release fertiliser once every six months (refers to packaging for dosage). In the warmer months, feed fortnightly with a liquid fertiliser.
