Description
The Brunfelsia pauciflora, also known as the “yesterday, today, and tomorrow” plant, is a bushy evergreen shrub. The plant is native to Brazil and is known for its fragrant flowers that change color as they age. The flowers start out purple, then fade to lavender, and finally turn white. The flowers last for three days and change color each day.
The plant’s common name comes from the changing color of its flowers. According to The New Sunset Western Garden Book, the purple color stands for yesterday, lavender for today, and white for tomorrow. The flowers bloom from spring until the end of summer.
The plant is not picky about how it’s watered. You can use any common watering tool, such as a watering can, hose, or cup.
