Description
Congea tomentosa is a tropical evergreen vine that is also known as wooly congea, shower orchid, or shower of orchid.
Despite its name, it is not closely related to orchids. It is native to Burma and Thailand. It can grow up to 20 feet long or can be pruned as a shrub.
It has light green leaves that are 15.2-20.3 cm long. It produces sprays of white flowers backed by bracts.
The bracts gradually change through pink, lavender, and finally gray over the course of several weeks.
Congea tomentosa is often grown in southern Florida, southern California, and the Hawaiian Islands. It has naturalized in Puerto Rico.
