The Rainforest Plum (Eugenia candolleana) is a tropical fruit tree native to the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil. It is known by local Portuguese names such as cambuí roxo (purple cambuí) or murtinha (little myrtle). This small to medium-sized tree, typically reaching 3-6 meters in height, is valued for both its ornamental qualities and its delicious fruit. The tree has a rounded or conical canopy with glossy, deep green foliage and reddish-brown bark that peels naturally, revealing a smooth, reddish trunk. Its ability to thrive in tropical and subtropical climates and its relatively quick fruiting time (2-3 years) have made it a popular addition to exotic fruit gardens.

The fruit of the Rainforest Plum is a small, round to slightly elongated berry with a thin, purple-black skin. Beneath the skin is a firm, whitish, and juicy pulp surrounding a single seed.
